Franklin Graham Rips Trump on NC Bathroom Law

The Rev. Franklin Graham slammed Donald Trump on his opposition to the North Carolina bathroom law, praising state officials for acting to “protect young girls, boys, and women from sexual predators and perverts.”

“Men have no business using women’s bathrooms and locker rooms,” Graham said Friday on Facebook. “Period.”

He is the head of both the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the Samaritan’s Purse global charity. Both efforts are based in Charlotte, N.C.

Graham, the son of the famed evangelist Billy Graham, was in Ecuador this week working with Samaritan’s Purse to provide assistance to those affected by last week’s deadly earthquake.

Trump told host Matt Lauer Thursday on “Today” on NBC that the Tar Heel State should not have passed the law last month directing transgender people to use bathrooms that match the gender on their birth certificates.

“People … use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate,” Trump said at a town hall meeting. “There has been so little trouble.

“Leave it the way it is,” he said.

Trump even told Lauer that he would allow Caitlyn Jenner to use the bathroom of her choice in Trump Tower.

“He said that if Caitlyn Jenner came to Trump Tower, he could use any bathroom he wanted,” Graham said in the Facebook post. “That’s Mr. Trump’s prerogative on his own property.

“But businesses and organizations shouldn’t be forced by law to allow men pretending to be women to use women’s restrooms.

“It’s not up to us to decide our sex — God determines that,” Graham added before ending with a portion of Genesis 5:2 from the Old Testament: “He created them male and female and blessed them.”
